Frame Design

The design study objective for the Hornet focused on key performance features to address the Shooting Sports game of Skeet. The Hornet uses the same lens fixation technology as the Sebring Series. There are 4 completely different design features that differentiated the Hornet from the Sebring. The Hornet uses a straight temple design – The temple comfortably slides over the ear and wraps the contour of the head. The Hornet has two different lens shapes. A conventional Aviator design like the Sebring and a new high performance "lens shield." The Nose Bridge is smaller between the lenses. The Hornet has a fixed nose bridge that can be adjusted by widening or narrowing the width to raise or lower the frame. This is accomplished by manually changing the angle of the nose bridge arm.

The HD Spex lens shield concept for the Hornet provides the wearer with additional lens material in the temple region to cut wind and air entering the eye region. This lens shield prevents eye watering and also reduces stray light from getting into the eyes promoting eye fatigue.

The Straight temple design of the Hornet provides optimal comfort for the wearer. The temples are completely adjustable for contouring to the shape of the wearers head. A simple bending of the temple to the shape of the head will provide perfect fit.

Lens Changes

The frame utilizes HD Spex Patented Lens Anchors for fixation of the lens to the frame. The lens anchors use a bolt and channel system. The Bolt is threaded into the Ballistx Lens material without the possibility of the lens material cracking and the "channel" is found on the frame in the temperal and nasal positions of the front bar. The bolt slides into the channel and the head of the bolt fits securely bind the channel in the frame. This provides easy changing of the lenses while offering a snug fit for the lens.
